Intensive course for Basketball Coaches

OVERVIEW

Learn specific topics of Basketball training from leading Lithuanian and international experts.

We are offering 5 days, 14 days and 28 days intensive basketball coaching courses for beginners and advanced basketball coaches. Courses are organised in Kaunas (Lithuania) in cooperation with Lithuanian Basketball Coaches Association, Lithuanian Youth and Professional Basketball clubs as well as with Lithuanian Basketball Leagues. Minimum number of the participants in the course is 20 persons, maximum – 35 persons. The format of the courses composed of theoretical and practical sessions: theory in the morning and practice in the afternoon. For longer than 15 days courses, under request of the participants, students are taking part in real training process as coaches assistants at youth and professional basketball clubs of Lithuania (Kaunas district). The final plan of the course is prepared along with the group leader.

Using exclusive situation of Kaunas district, where more than 10 youth basketball schools are developing youth programs, as well as 10 professional and semi -professional basketball organisation running men’s and women’s basketball programs, adding more than 200 amateurs basketball teams, every participant of the course will find exceptional basketball environment for the best experience of basketball coach profession.

The course will bring understanding of entire Lithuanian basketball culture. Starting from listening lectures of basketball professors, making visits to leading Lithuanian youth and professional basketball organisations, having live discussions with basketball stars, former NBA or Euroleague players, watching Euroleague or Eurocup games and being assistants during real training process in basketball schools and clubs will make understanding why very small country – Lithuania is one of the leader in big basketball world.

The course is composed of following activities:

Basketball science classes – Lectures of basketball scientists from Lithuania
Visits to basketball schools – Visits and meetings at the biggest basketball schools of the Lithuania
Meetings with basketball stars – Discussions with former NBA and Euroleague players and coaches
Watching games – Visits to Euroleague, Eurocup and Lithuanian basketball leagues games
Live coaching experience – Joining youth and mens basketball games as assistant coaches.

Content of the course

Intensive basketball coaching course is available in english and russian languages. Topics of the course are coordinated with leader of the group (if course designed to specific group of coaches coming from one basketball school or one country) or announced on the IBU website (www.basketballstudies.com) at least 3 months in before the start.

IBU will propose options for accommodation and catering for course participants as well as local transportation during full duration of the course accordingly to the group needs.

Course designed to any level active coaches, physical education teachers, fitness, strength and conditioning coaches or players who intend to become a part of team coaching staff.
